Kjersten In The Press
The News-Gazette
Urbana, Illinois
In April of 2006 I flew to Urbana, Illinois to spend a week with 2005 USA Today All-USA Teacher team member Marcy Vancil and her third grade class.
Marcy Vancil was my 2nd, 3rd and 4th Grade teacher. So much of who I am stems from what I learned in her classroom. From Marcy I learned how to learn, I learned to think outside the box, I stretched my creativity to it's limits and I flourished.
I was happy to return to Marcy's classroom 20 years after having been a student there to spend a week making paper with her students and hanging out in her classroom.
Amy F. Reiter of the Urbana News-Gazette visited Marcy's class the day I presented paper-making to the kids. She wrote a very nice article about me and Marcy entitled A Step Back In Time. It was featured on page A-3 of the Urbana News-Gazette on Tuesday April 25, 2006. There was even a big photo. What fun! I've included an image of the article (it's not published online). Thanks Ms. Reiter!
(and of course, Thanks MV!)
